The dedicated team at Horizons Women’s Healthcare provides compassionate and comprehensive childbirth and gynecologic medical services to women who call the Miami Valley home.

Founded in 2006 by Andre T. Harris, MD and his wife Charlotte Harris , RN, BSN, the thriving practice is housed in a relaxing, upscale facility on Dayton’s West side complete with hardwood floors, inspirational artwork and flat-screen televisions.

The welcoming practice delivers top-notch obstetrics and gynecological services to patients regardless of career paths or method of payment.

“Part of what we are trying to do is empower women,” Dr. Harris said, adding that at Horizons, a premium is placed on patient education and preventative care.

Parents to four children, the Harris' have long known the importance of paying it forward.

A federal program that provides monetary support for doctors hoping to work in underserved communities helped fund Dr. Harris’ education at Wright StateUniversity’s School of Medicine.

Dr. Harris, a former administrative chief resident at Miami Valley Hospital, is one of only handful of African American OB/GYN practicing in the Miami Valley.

And the South Bend, Ind., native is the only black male OB/GYN with a practice in the City of Dayton.

 “It’s an opportunity to give back to the community that helped me become a physician,”  he said. “There was a void that I could fill. I wouldn't trade what I am doing for anything.”
