Permanent Birth Control
Essure is a permanent birth control procedure that works with your body to create a natural barrier against pregnancy. This gentle procedure can be performed in a doctor’s office in less than an hour. Trusted by women and doctors for over five years, Essure is covered by most insurance providers. If the Essure procedure is performed in a doctor’s office, depending on your specific insurance plan, payment may be as low as a simple co-pay.
Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of your uterus. It can mean survival if you have uterine cancer. Or if you’re a woman with intolerable pelvic pain from endometriosis or heavy, irregular periods, a hysterectomy often means relief from troublesome symptoms. Hysterectomy ranks as one of the most common surgical procedures among women. But when is a hysterectomy really necessary? Discover why you might need a hysterectomy, what’s involved in the procedure and what your alternatives might be.
Usually performed as a laparoscopic procedure, under general anesthesia. Gas is used to expand the abdomen so surgical tools can be inserted. The fallopian tubes are blocked by one of these methods:
Clamping with metal clips or plastic rings, cutting away a section of the tube, burning a portion of the tube. Stitches or staples are used to close the cuts and the clamps, rings, or clips remain in the body.
NovaSure® Endometrial Ablation
NovaSure® endometrial ablation is a quick, safe, and simple procedure to lighten or stop your periods, without the side effects of hormones or the risks of hysterectomy. There are no pills or hormonal side effects, and for 90% of women, menstrual bleeding is dramatically reduced or stopped.
In this video Dr. Harris explains how robotic surgery works.
Da Vinci Robotic Surgery offers gynecological patients with a considerably less invasive option. This two-part robotic surgery system utilizes a patient cart, equipped with tiny robotic arms that perform the surgery, and a surgical console, with controls the doctor uses to manipulate the robotic arms. The surgeon is able to see the entire area he or she is working on with the help of a fully 3-dimensional camera attached to one of the robotic arms.
“My hope for our society is that we’re going to use the talent of all the people and not just half of them.”
– Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court
